Everyone’s life is a journey of ups and downs and when those moments are woven together, they form a melody all their own. The irony is that the only person who can limit how fully you live it is you.
Ask Joshua about his life, and he’d tell you it was challenging but ultimately good until 2014. After that, everything changed. And then, in time, it became something greater than he could have imagined.
In 2014, Joshua was involved in a train accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down with a D12–L1 complete spinal cord injury, losing all sensation and function below that point. Three fingers on his left hand were also amputated after being crushed in the crash.
Life has a way of pressing you to your limits and confronting you with what feels impossible. What determines how you respond comes down to three things: hope, inspiration, and purpose.
- Who is your beacon of hope when all seems lost?
- Who inspires you to live fully?
- Who gives your life purpose?
For Joshua, the answer to all three was the same: Jesus Christ.
Had he let his disability define him, Joshua might have lost his sense of purpose entirely. Instead, he found it in Christ — who didn’t just help him survive, but made him “more than a conqueror”. That truth gave him a new life: one marked by hope, dreams, belief, and the quiet celebration of grace.
Today, Joshua is an author, communicator, evangelist and singer-songwriter.
They say Rome wasn’t built in a day. Neither was Joshua’s life and it certainly wasn’t built by human hands alone. He didn’t become who he is the day he was born; he became who he is through a process. A dark and painful one. But as Scripture says, “Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever” (Psalm 125:1).
Trust the God who has no limits, even when your own mind can’t make sense of the road ahead. That’s exactly what Joshua did — every step of the way, through every change in circumstance around him. He trusted God, wholly.
